Safeguarding
We are a community that nurtures care by putting campers first in all that we do. Safeguarding and child protection are of paramount importance at Green Camp NZ.
We believe that children should be respected, their voices heard, and their well-being prioritised. It is our responsibility to ensure that each child forms stable, trusting relationships with adults who provide consistent support and guidance.
This approach shapes the behaviour of all professionals at our camp. Our commitment to safeguarding is aligned with the principles of the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child and reflects the values of Green School NZ.
Green Camp NZ has developed a comprehensive Safeguarding Policy and training programme, which is regularly reviewed and updated. All new staff members undergo rigorous vetting through our safer recruitment procedures. Our recruitment team is trained in child protection, and upon joining, all staff participate in safeguarding training, which is regularly refreshed throughout their time with us. In addition, our camp undergoes annual safeguarding audits to ensure the highest standards of care and safety for all children in our community.
